Don't Forget Workflow

Now that you have the front-end of your site designed, you need to consider what it takes to actually sustain it. Why are we talking about sustaining a site before we have built it? Because there are several ways to develop a solution what you have designed. Some solutions will be user friendly and some could require you know a lot more about Drupal than you want to.

Designing and ultimately developing a workflow is critical to being able to initially build your site's content but also to sustaining it. Various workflow decisions can be identified by performing a process and task analysis.

Process and Task Analyses

If you documented your process and task requirements, you are well on your way to completing your workflow design. The only thing left is to take your workflow pages (the admin pages used to create content on your site) through the same design process described in the previous pages.

If you have not performed a Process Analysis and Task Analysis, then your first step is to do so. For sites where you have only a few trained people working on sustaining the site, this might not be a big deal. But with many sites today, this is not the case.

More to come ...

Note: If you are diving straight into the design chapter hoping to address the details of requirements later, I wanted to remind about workflow. I will post additional workflow design information as time permits. Until then, please don't skip Process and Task Analysis.
